Question 1

What is an eSIM?

Accepted Answer

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built directly into your mobile device. It allows you to download and activate cellular data plans instantly without having to handle a physical SIM chip. eSIM technology is supported by most modern smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches.

Question 2

How does Stixrs eSIM work?

Accepted Answer

Stixrs partners with local mobile operators worldwide to provide you with prepaid data packages. After purchasing a plan on our website, you receive a QR code via email. Simply scan it with your device to install the eSIM profile, then activate the data line when you arrive at your destination.

Question 3

Does Stixrs eSIM include a phone number for calls and SMS?

Accepted Answer

No. Stixrs eSIMs are strictly data-only packages and do not come with a local phone number. You cannot make traditional phone calls or send cellular SMS using the eSIM. To stay in touch, you can use internet-based messaging and calling apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, Messenger, or Signal.

Question 4

What are the advantages of using an eSIM over a physical SIM?

Accepted Answer

eSIMs eliminate the need to hunt for local SIM cards at airport kiosks. You can purchase and install your data plan before your trip, keep your primary home SIM active for calls and texts, and switch between multiple data plans without swapping physical cards. eSIMs are also more secure as they cannot be physically removed or lost.

Question 5

Do I need to remove my physical SIM to use Stixrs eSIM?

Accepted Answer

No, you can keep your physical SIM in your device. Your phone can use both the physical SIM and the eSIM simultaneously. We recommend configuring the eSIM for data while keeping your home SIM for calls and SMS, ensuring you never miss important messages.

Question 6

Can I keep my home phone number active while using Stixrs?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Your physical home SIM continues to handle calls and SMS as usual. You simply set the Stixrs eSIM as your primary data line in your device settings. This way you stay reachable on your regular number while enjoying high-speed data abroad.

Question 7

Which devices are compatible with Stixrs eSIM?

Accepted Answer

Most modern smartphones support eSIM technology. Compatible devices include iPhone XR and newer (including iPhone SE 2nd gen and later), Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, all recent Huawei P and Mate series, and many others. Tablets like iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd gen+), and select Windows laptops also support eSIM.

Question 8

How can I check if my phone is eSIM-compatible?

Accepted Answer

On iPhone, go to Settings > General > About and look for "Available SIM" or "Digital SIM". On Android, navigate to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager. You can also check your device specifications on the manufacturer's website or dial *#06# — if you see an EID number, your device supports eSIM.

Question 9

Does my phone need to be carrier-unlocked?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your device must be carrier-unlocked to use a Stixrs eSIM. Devices locked to a specific carrier will reject adding a profile from another network. You can contact your carrier to request unlocking — most will unlock devices once they are fully paid off and out of contract.

Question 10

Can I use Stixrs eSIM on a dual-SIM phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes, dual-SIM phones work perfectly with Stixrs. You can use your physical SIM for voice and SMS while the eSIM handles mobile data. Most dual-SIM devices support DSDS (Dual SIM Dual Standby), meaning both lines remain active simultaneously.

Question 11

What types of data plans does Stixrs offer?

Accepted Answer

Stixrs offers a wide range of plans including regional packages (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Americas), country-specific plans, and global pass options. Plans vary by data allowance (from 1 GB to unlimited), duration (1 day to 30 days), and network speed tiers (4G LTE and 5G where available).

Question 12

How much does Stixrs eSIM cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing varies by destination and package. Our country-specific plans start as low as $1.00 (which is our minimum retail price floor to cover payment processing). Regional and global passes offer even better value for multi-destination trips. All prices are listed in USD and include applicable taxes with no hidden fees.

Question 13

Can I top up or extend my plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can purchase a new data package at any time from your account dashboard. If you run out of data before your plan expires, simply buy an additional package — the new data will be added to your existing line. You can also purchase a new plan for your next trip at any time.

Question 14

What happens when my data runs out?

Accepted Answer

Once your data allowance is fully consumed, the data connection will pause. Your eSIM profile remains on your device and you can purchase a new package at any time to resume service. You will not incur any overage fees — Stixrs operates on a strict prepaid model with no bill shock.

Question 15

Do you offer unlimited data plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer Unlimited Data plans in select destinations. Each plan includes a daily high-speed allowance of 1 GB or 3 GB — shown on the plan before you buy. Once that allowance is used, speeds are reduced to 1 Mbps to maintain network quality for all users, and the full-speed allowance is restored the next day. There are no overage fees.

Question 16

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you have NOT downloaded or installed the eSIM profile on your device within 14 days of purchase, you can request a refund (equal to the purchase price minus payment processing gateway fees). If your eSIM is defective or fails due to a verified technical system error on our end, you will receive a 100% full refund with zero fees deducted. Once an eSIM profile is downloaded or installed, it is permanently provisioned by partner carrier networks and cannot be returned.

Question 17

How do I install my Stixrs eSIM?

Accepted Answer

After purchase, you will receive a QR code by email and in your account dashboard. On your device, go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data > Add eSIM, then scan the QR code. You can also install it natively on supported devices using the direct links in your delivery email. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Question 18

When should I install my eSIM?

Accepted Answer

We recommend installing the eSIM profile before your trip while you are connected to your home Wi-Fi. This ensures a smooth setup without relying on mobile data. You can keep the data line turned off until you arrive at your destination to avoid early activation.

Question 19

When does my plan activate?

Accepted Answer

Your plan activates the moment you enable the eSIM data line on your device at your destination. The countdown begins when the device connects to a supported local network. You can install the profile in advance without starting the clock on your plan duration.

Question 20

Do I need to enable Data Roaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In order for the Stixrs eSIM to connect and access cellular networks abroad, you must turn on "Data Roaming" for the Stixrs eSIM line in your device settings. Your primary home carrier will not charge you for roaming as long as your home SIM roaming is turned off or only the Stixrs eSIM is selected for cellular data.

Question 21

How do I set up the eSIM for data only?

Accepted Answer

After installation, go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data and select the Stixrs eSIM line. Set it as the default line for cellular data. You can keep your primary SIM as the default for voice and iMessage/FaceTime. On Android, you can also configure individual app data preferences under SIM manager.

Question 22

Can I install the eSIM on multiple devices?

Accepted Answer

No. An eSIM profile can only be downloaded and installed once on a single device. The QR code is strictly for one-time use. If you delete or remove the eSIM from your device settings, you cannot scan the QR code again or reinstall it. Please do not delete the profile unless you are finished using the plan.

Question 23

What if I accidentally delete my eSIM?

Accepted Answer

Because eSIM profiles are one-time use and permanently provisioned, once deleted they cannot be recovered or reinstalled. Stixrs cannot reissue a new profile for free if a working eSIM was manually deleted. You would need to purchase a new package to get a new eSIM profile.

Question 24

My eSIM is not working. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

First, ensure you have enabled data roaming in your device settings. On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming. On Android: Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Data Roaming. Also verify that the Stixrs line is selected as the active data line and that you are in a supported coverage area.

Question 25

Why is my data connection slow?

Accepted Answer

Slow data can be caused by network congestion, weak signal, or reaching your plan's high-speed data limit. Try moving to an area with better reception, restarting your device, or toggling Airplane Mode to refresh the network connection. If speeds are consistently slow, check if your plan includes throttled speeds after a fair usage limit.

Question 26

Can I use Stixrs eSIM for tethering or hotspot?

Accepted Answer

Most Stixrs plans support personal hotspot / tethering. However, some budget or promotional plans may restrict tethering to conserve network resources. Check your specific plan details on the product page. Generally, our regional and global passes include tethering capability.

Question 27

What if I change my travel dates or destination?

Accepted Answer

You can purchase a new plan at any time from your account. If your travel plans change before your eSIM is downloaded or activated, your existing plan remains valid — just activate it when you actually travel. If you no longer need the un-downloaded plan, you may request a refund within 14 days (minus payment gateway processing fees).

Question 28

How do I contact Stixrs support?

Accepted Answer

Our support team is available via email and through our contact form. Visit our Contact page to submit a request. For urgent issues, we recommend including your order number and a description of the problem. We typically respond within 24 hours, and often much sooner during business hours.
